দায়িত্ব পালনের সময় প্রাণ হারিয়েছে ৫৭ সাংবাদিক

দায়িত্ব পালনের সময়ে চলতি বছর ৫৭ জন সাংবাদিক প্রাণ হারিয়েছেন। সোমবার রিপোর্টার্স উইদাউট বর্ডার্স এই কথা জানিয়েছে।

গণমাধ্যম স্বাধীনতা বিষয়ক এই প্রতিষ্ঠানটি জানিয়েছে সবচেয়ে বেশি ১৯ জন নিহত হয়েছে বিগত ৫ বছরে গৃহযুদ্ধে ছিন্নভিন্ন হয়ে যাওয়া সিরিয়া। এর পরের অবস্থানে আছে আফগানিস্তান, সার্ক সদস্য দেশটিতে ১০ জন সাংবাদিক নিহত হয়েছে। এছাড়া ৯ জন মেক্সিকোতে এবং ৫ জন মারা গেছে ইরাকে। নিহতদের বেশিরভাগ স্থানীয় সাংবাদিক।

২০১৫ সালে ৬৭ জন সাংবাদিক নিহত হয়েছিল। চলতি বছর সাংবাদিক নিহত হওয়ার সংখ্যা কমেছে, একই সঙ্গে বেড়েছে প্রাণ বাঁচাতে দেশত্যাগী সাংবাদিকের সংখ্যা। রিপোর্টার্স উইদাউট বর্ডারের প্রতিবেদনে বলা হয়, সিরিয়া, ইরাক, লিবিয়া, আফগানিস্তান ও বুরুন্ডি ছেড়ে সাংবাদিকরা পালিয়েছে কারণ এই স্থানগুলো তাদের জন্য খুব বেশি বিপদজনক হয়ে উঠেছিল।

প্রতিবেদনে বলা হয়, সহিংস এইসব এলাকা থেকে রিপোর্টাররা সরে আসায় সেখানে ‘নিউজ ব্ল্যাকহোল’ তৈরি হচ্ছে।I
